Farmers around here are spraying like crazy. I used to own one of those round engines for 7 years. The single row Pratt's are my favorite sounding radials. A Farmall A takes a whole lot less fuel and maintenance than an R-1340, though.

I think any radial engine sounds good. While in the Navy the planes I worked on had two 18 cylinder R 3350 engines. When these planes were phased out, the new planes had four suck and blow engines, which don't sound good at all. That is about the time I got out. Stan

The guy one hangar row over from me at my airport has a Hawker Sea Fury with a R-3350 off of a Skyraider hung on the nose and a propeller from a Corsair. I love to stand next to it when its idling and feel the exhaust thump my chest.

They keep pretty busy here all summer. I love to hear those old biplanes with open exaust and that stacatto cackel.

Still sends shivers down my spine. Nothing like the sound of a round engine!

Well Yes.

I didn't wanna bring it up, but I have three of everything. Never thought about it before, but I suspect that this is why I'm always referred to as a peckerwood.

Dunno fer sure tho, :>)
