It seems that A&I dealers all use the same retail price list. They can all use direct ship from the same wherehouse. I would like to find one that gets less than the standard 50% mark up. YTmag does advertise as being a dealer.

Looks like I am the dumb one. I should have checked out the facts before I posted and not passed on rumors. I have been told A&I dealers have less markup than most local auto supplies stores. Hope this is not more heresay.

Well I know for a fact that 100% markup is on the rod & main bearings because I returned a set and only got half my money back and had to pay shipping both ways!

If you know for a fact I, as an A&I dealer am making 100% markup, I need to change my pricing structure. The reason you only got half of your money back and had to pay shipping both ways is because the markup is so slim on these parts, if the guy gave you back all your money, plus paid to ship it back, after paying the incoming freight, plus took time to look up and order parts, ad th etime to box up and return the parts, he would have lost $20.00-30.00, maybe more. Would not take too long with this kind of practice, he would be gone and out of business. I wish the buying public would realize we are not multi million dollar companies like Walmart, making 50% gross profit on everything. We usually make .25-.30 on the dollar in profit and to just keep our doors open, paying rent, insurance, utilities, employees, etc, we have to average 30% gross profit. So, if you have to pay a little for your mistake, then please do not take it out on us, we are only trying to make a living, so out children and family can eat, just like you do when you go to work evey day.

I guess I am not smart , I do not make anything close to 50% on the A&I parts I sell, and I sell at the retail price

Not currently, but have been an A & I dealer and you're right, it's not as much gravy as he makes it sound.

Everybody wants to have their little league team sponsored, donations for this and that. They want it to come from businesses, but when it comes to making a living, they will try and chisel you out of your last nickel if it means one more for them.
