After eating all I could hold today I actually took home two quarts from the bushes around the farm buildings. Those growing near scrap iron had by far the sweetest berries. Next best were the ones from a woodpile long abandoned.

Blackberries are nature's way of telling you to forget work and enjoy the day.

Wild blackberries are nature's way of telling you that you need to buy some Round-up (glyphosate)and give 'em a good dose of it!!

Weldon: Now your a guy that missed some of the finer things of life. Some folks are afraid to eat berries, in case they may fart.

Yeah, down here, what blood the briars don't draw, the Ticks try to get..... Our berries are running late this year... Big field up the road, I have seen as many as a dozen elderly Black ladies picking at one time... I sometimes stop & pick some & chat with them... they can tell some good stories about the old days.....

Your observation about the berries producing better near scrap iron is correct. You may want to check the archives.I recall reading a posting on this same subject within the past four to six weeks.

So, does this mean that instead of hauling my old iron to the scrap yard I can instead move it to the berry bushes and keep it?

No, just leave it lay, and the berry bushes will come to it, guaranteed!
