Chelsea PTO Question

I posted this in the Classic Truck forum, thought I'd post it here as well in case anybody might know -- I'm looking at a used Chelsea AZRNW-1-C H-76 PTO that is supposed to fit on a New Process transmission. I want to put it on an NP 435 in a 1976 F-250 truck. Will it fit? Is there some kind of internal shaft or gearing that has to be added to the tranny before a PTO will work? Thanks in advance..... ... Brian

Allen is correct on the fact that no gear needs to be added to that transmission since it is a single countershaft transmission. HOWEVER when you get to some twin and the tripple countershaft Macks, PTO driver gears are an option on some brands. I need to look and see if the pitch of that gear will match 435. You know that PTO is old enought to vote several time over. What do you plan on driving with the PTO. It is an engine rotation single gear PTO. It does not transmit the torque of a 2 gear PTO. I would like to drive a bed-mounted winch with it. Brian

By the way the model A was Chelsea"s first PTO 60 years ago. I will need to get my OLD interchange list out to see what it has been supersceeded by (model 100) I might want to trade you out of it. where are you located/

I"m willing to consider a even trade for something of equal functionality. My e-mail is open. Brian

Do you know the torque requirements and the direction of rotation that you need?

Hi Brian,

They were all standard across the different lines.
The gear on your PTO unit drives off of the transmission's counter shaft and nothing needs to be done to the transmission other than just pull that cover off.

The on/off lever should be on the PTO unit itself controlled by a cable to your dash or floorboard.

Allan
