Stole this off the WOOD TV (Grand Rapids, MI) website - this is the report they aired on the evening news:

(Lowell Township, July 6, 2005, 3:24 p.m.) A 44-year-old Lowell man was injured after the tractor he was riding on flipped over and landed on top of him. Police say Charles Brinkert was using a 1940s tractor to pull a stump out of the ground near his home on Alden Nast in Lowell Township on Tuesday. That's when the machine flipped over backwards and landed on top of him, impaling his lower body. As the tractor was flipping over, it hit a 100-year-old brick outhouse and got stuck, which prevented Brinkert from being crushed. Brinkert was trapped for two-and-a-half hours. He was then airlifted to a hospital where he is listed in fair condition.

NUFF SAID?

I have a freind whose dad died a few years ago pulling stumps with the 3-point hitch; and you hear about it pretty regularly. Sounds like a bad idea, I'll never do it (but my tractor has a front loader).

Yeah. The stump must have been under or in that out house for the tractor to flip backwards and still land on the outhouse.

This was a close one, and our thoughts go out for Mr. Brinkert.

Yesterday, an area airport manager that also piloted a spray plane (680 HP Ayres Thresh) clipped a 345,000 volt transmission line. Sadly, this story didn't have a good ending, as the pilot was killed in the crash.

No matter what we operate...we can't be too careful!

Let`s pray that Mr. Brinkert has a speedy recovery and thank the Lord that his injuries were not worse than they are. In most cases they are fatal in this type of accident.

When that front end leaves the ground, you are teasing the angels.
