I recently bought a 706 and it appears to me that it had a turbo on it because the intake is blocked off and it has custom intake tube from the air filter to the intake runner.
So back to my question, where to I locate a turbo and intake and about how much should it cost?

Thanks

What engine does your 706 have in it? If it has the german 310, I have a M&W turbo kit for it that I would sell.

Any idea as to why it's blocked off?

I bought a $700 turbo for a Cummins one time because I heard a whistle when it was running and thought it was a turbo bearing gone out..... wrong!

It was a pin hole in the intake manifold and the air pressure from the turbo was sufficient to make the air whistle thru it. Actually it was the joint of 2 pipes coming together and the clamp wasn't tight enough to seal it off.

Turbo's are tough critters.

The M&W Kits are fairly Reasonable. Its the Factory IH kits that everyone wants. You should be able to buy the whole M&W set up for around 300.00 or less at most all salvage yards. Beware of adding one to a german engine its hard to keep head gaskets in them then.

Reminds me of the IH pulling tractor that appeared on here recently. The guy had it blown and had the blower turned up too high (what ever that means) and they caught the block splitting in half on film.....yeah the top half of the block was going up in the air. Amazing. Had a real blank look on the operator's face too.
