Went to baler school this week in upland CT. When the manual says ya better loosen up the slip clutches prior to baling hay, ya better believe it. I didn't, and watched my u-joint on the flywheel end explode. Now my NH dealer able to upgrade his boat thanks to my contribution. This baler came down from Canada, where I suspect it sat around awhile in the dealer's lot. The mechanic at the shop showed me one of the pto clutch plates. It was rusted so bad that he had to chisel the halves apart, left large cups in the plates where it had attached itself. Twisted the drive shaft, as well. Pick-up slip clutch not looking too good either. Kicker throwing V-belts, bales coming out uneven. Who was the sadist that invented this machine?

Baler school is in Pomfret. Classes are suspended due to rain today. Gives me some time to read up on how to fix uneven bales.
