I have no power steering in my 1586 tractor > I have replaced all the gaskets and o-rings in the MCV housing , Put on new MCV pump Checked that all the valves are loose and the orifice is o.k. > My light for the relief valve stays on even after the clutch is released.
Could it be something in the steering motor that connects to the steering column or what else could you look for>

SJ,

Do you have "manual" steering?

If so, that about throws it back at the MCV control area because the steering is the first in line for oil feed and the brakes, T/A and tranny lube have to wait their turn at the feed trough.

If the secondary systems are working okay, then the trouble lies either with the MCV, the manual pump or out at the steering cylinder, I would think.

But, why is the darned light staying on? That still smacks of low oil pressure. Have you had a pressure test done on this tractor yet?

SJ,

That light says there is no hydraulic pressure. Do you have brakes? Does the T/A work?

Does the PTO work? Maybe the PTO input shaft is not turning from the pressure plate? Do your rear hydraulcis and/or pump even work?

If you've already replaced the front pump, it has about gotta be something upstream from there, wouldn't ya think?

Allan
