My MF-690 has had someone "work" over the electrical wiring for the air conditioning system. They rigged it up to bypass the relay. The wire ends have all been cut, relay is missing, etc. I have ordered the relay from MF. The wires need to connect to the relay and run the twin condensor fans, run to low side pressure switch, high side pressure switch, and to compressor. I tried to buy an "air conditioning wiring harness" thru MF; only one in North America somewhere in Canada at a dealer, wants $200 for it. The harness does not have that many wires, and I have the exact wiring dirgram in MF Repair Manual. Questions are: how will I connect the wires to the relay? Where can I buy special ends, connectors, fuse holders, harness cover for the length of wire bundles, etc. for this project? Thanks for your help, and sorry for the long post. Tom

Thank you to all for the advise. I have ordered a catalog, and will look at the local electrical shop, when I can get back on this project. Will let yall know how it turns out.

Tom, I get my wiring supplies from waytekwire.com . The expandable sleeving used on aftermarket harnesses for antique tractors can be bought from them, as well as most other wiring needs. Check out the site and request a catalog.

Tom, Some auto supplies can get or carry that stuff especially a good NAPA with Belden products. The Waytek catalog that TDK is talking about is great too! They do have the expandable plastic woven harness like originals. I just got my Waytek catalog in mail. Thanks TDK !!

Interesting that some type of weave covering is available, has anyone used it and how good does it duplicate OEM stuff?

It looks to be like the OEM stuff and they have other braided and fiberglass sleeving too. It comes on bulk spools but says you can call them for cut lengths on special order. It's a braided polyester yarn that has to be cut with a hot knife in solder gun. Can view it at their online catalog too. They don't show the old asphalt covered fibre loom. I have been getting that at Belden or Napa dealers and can get it cut to length or in rolls. Easier to use the split plastic stuff for small jobs and if you buy some that is quality kind it will be rated for enough heat resistance.

Couple of suggestions: 1) I would solder rather than just crimp the ends. We use crimped Deutsch connectors at work and they are pretty good, but I still solder mine, whether they are standard crimps, Sure Seal, or Deutsch. 2)The weave covering that you see on newer harness is put on by a "weaving" machine, you cannot buy this weave and install it. You can buy long large shrink tube or the spiral cut plastic tube used to organize computer wiring etc, and use this as an outer covering. I have also used thin-wall, larger ID rubber hose to encase the wires. 3) The last and best suggestion is just say screw the cost, and buy the harness and save the work/bother and have a better looking job!

Tom, your auto supply should have the terminal ends, they should also have the crimpers to put em on with. If not, go to your local Electrical Supply House, they will have everything you need, and it will be better quality.
