My brother was steam cleaning an H readying it for painting. It is red under all the paint with decals. It"s serial # is 1127.
Were any of the H"s originally red?

It's not unknown for a JD tractor to be painted a color other than green. I'd check further if I were you, and check on some of the JD boards, you're not gonna get good answers about JD stuff here.

'Course if you want to paint it red, who is to stop you? It just won't be original.

For many tractors JD would paint it any color the customer wanted. Could have been purchased by a state or something for highway work.

Not sure if the Hs could be ordered like that or not. Mother Deere might know based on serial.
