I have a Cub Cadet LT1018. One of the specific reasons I bought it was the single pedal forward/reverse feature. I had a Murray with that feature and loved it. Imagine how pissed I got when I found the blades disengaged when I go into reverse! Can anyone tell me how to disengage this feature? I hate the seat safety switch too, but the reverse is the thing that really chaps me.

I have a new Cadet, and under the machint ehter is a lever on the control shaft that puches on a switch when you push the pedal to reverse. I drilled a small hole in the plastic pin of the switch and put a quick clip in it to keep the rlever from pushing it in,. works like a champ for me. dealer told me if it ever has to come in for repair, the switch has to work when he sends it out.

I was not a big fan of safety switchs until my son (youg at the time but expereneced) hit a bump that pitched him from the seat. His shoe lace caught on the brake lock knob so he did not fall free of the machine. If the seat switch had not shut the engine off he would have been dragged along for who knows how long. He was on a 316 John Deere. Made a beleiver of me.
BUT that reverse switch would drive me crazy because I have a lot to mow around.

The reverse switch on my 1641 cadet had an arm on it that you hit when shifting to reverse. This arm was visible through the shift lever slot. My friend, ( the dealer ) told me he had seen some of them that had " somehow gotten bent ". I held mine with needle nose pliers and bent it so that the lever would miss it. The seat rested on a spring loaded plate which raised up when you dismounted and killed the engine. I pushed the plate down and forced small sections of a rubber gas line under the heads of the mounting bolts-no more problems. Beauty of these two fixes is they are easily reversable if needed.

it's easy ,just find the switch on both the seat and reverse pedal and wire around them .
