Farmall H Stuck in Gear

I have a Farmall H with the hand clutch add-on. I recently roaded it 20 miles and everything went well. I took it out a week later for a short run and it was still running just fine. It was parked for a week after the short run and when I went to take it out again it was stuck in gear. Whenever I let the clutch out and engage the hand clutch it acts as if it's in road gear even when it appears to be in neutral. Reverse and other gears do not seem to work which leads me to believe that it's stuck. Has anyone had this problem? What's the resolution?

Thanks for the info. What in particular needs to be replaced to prevent this in the future? Is there a kit or just specific worn parts?

The end of the shift lever is worn down. It can be built up again by welding. I can't remember the specific dimensions you want to achieve. You can search the archives or wait for someone else to jump in and give the answer.

Remove the shifter lever off by knocking out the pin. Take a hammer and brass punch and put the gears back into neutral.. You have the shifter in two positions. It happens often when these get alot of wear.
