Tractorfolk:

Washed down JD 790(diesel) on Saturday. Sprayed off whole trac with garden hose after soaping down ,etc. Now trac won't start. Nothing at all when turn key . Normally at that point the idiot lights on the dash come on . Lights will not come on either. Trac mechanic friend says can't figure ; must be coincidental , he says.

Any ideas? All fuses are okay.

Kajun

Thanks for all the suggestions. Cleaned battery and terminals when I first got trac. Still clean and well greased. Ground wire was badly worn, maybe that's the issue. Raining now in Louisiana and it'll need to stop before I can work on it. Gonna try all your ideas. Much obliged.

NH compacts have a fusible link at the battery connection on the starter solenoid. It protects EVERYTHING except the actual cranking current. Look for something similar on the Deere.

Had that happen once on a car engine I washed down. There was aparently enough salt and sulfuric acid on and around battery to allow it to discharge - completely. Suggest you remove battery clean it up thoroughly, dry completerly, clean terminals and clamps and reinstall. Charge it as necessary.

Yeah, I had a Buick Regal that would go completely dead after running through a big puddle. It would barely run the dome light.

Clean the battery terminals
