The ZB does not have near the power of a "M". I owned one. It pulled a 2-14" plow and that is all the tractor could handle. In other soils it may have been able to pull a little larger plow.

The M had 3 more hp and weighed 1200 pounds more than the ZB Moline. My Dad had a ZA and pulled 3-16 plow, same as neighbor with M. Sometimes people didn't bother to adjust and maintain their plows and they pulled harder than necessary.

ZBs were only made in '53,54,55. I grew up using one and like it.

ZB should be mid 50's with a foot clutch and a high seat, ZA or Z prior versions and low seat and hand clutch, about 35-38 PTO HP, should have live hydrolics and could have a live PTO but may not, if it does would have a long handle on left side, been too many years since I had my U, the U had the hand clutch while the UB had the foot clutch and was about 50 HP. The ZB would compair to the Farmall M, Gas John Deere A, Allis WD, Oliver 77

You mean Farmall 300, and the John deere tractor most nearly 37 hp would be an all fuel 60. The JD A and the Farmall M ceased being built when the ZB arrived.

we own one of all most all the aformentioned tractors..

and have a ZBE and a ZBU I know MM rated them as the same HP as an M ihc but I know that the M will out work it.

the ZB is a decent machine a bit crude for 1955 it is a ZA with a high seat and foot clutch--- not much else--- I use the ZBE to run my feed grinder

The M Farmall had 247 Cubic inches and all the Z molines had 209 Cubic inches. My book rates the Z at 33 drawbar hp and the M at 30.52. Must have something to do with gears. Usually more cubes means more hp.
