Yesterday I went to the local MF dealer here in NH and there was no MF's !!. I stopped to get some parts for our MF 124 baler and there where no new MF in the yard ,and when I went inside I couldn't get any parts for MF's !!!! They told me that MF dropped them because they sell Kobota tractors. This dealer sold MF for years... and they sold Kobota also for years.... Why would they have a problem with them selling Kobota all of a sudden???

Same thing here in Weatherford Texas. I posted about a couple of days back. Even before they lost the MF contract, the dealer had told me that they were selling 20 Kobotas for every one MF. It sounds like Kobata will spell the death of MF in many parts of America. Wonder how long MF can hold on? The dealer here was MF/Case IH/Kobota. He now has about 40 Kobotas and 6 Case IH tractors on the lot. The only other dealer in town is New Holland.

You wonder how long Massey can hold on????? ???? World wide Massey outsells just about everyone includeing deere!!

In my area, Massey compacts sell very well, so does Kubota. There's a nursery near here that has at least 20 Massey compacts.

I think your going to see Massey around for a long long time yet.

Wouldn't be much of a war anymore. Seriously, no brand likes being a dual dealership against Kubota anymore, nothing else on the lot sells...that's why JD is pulling their dealerships that are dual Kubota/Deere dealerships now too.

hmmmm... Our local Massey dealer sells Fendt tractors. Thay've got a few plaques for being top Fendt dealer in North America. They also sell a bunch of other brands of equipment and Clauss SP Harvesters I don't think Massey would get rid of them, Very large dealer in our area, and almost every farmer has massey's, exept the one right across the road from them. They have JD and the closest JD dealer to them is over 30 Mi.

This happens for the same reason you don't see Fords and Chevy's sold at the same dealership. The manufactures don't want in house competion between competitors under one roof. The same dealer can sell Fords on the left side of the street, and Chevy's on the right side, but not under the same roof. With very few exceptions the Ag companies are doing the same thing. The usual exceptions are the multistore mega dealerships that move 30-50+ tractors and pieces of equipment of each brand per month plus $200,000+ in parts, and the Companies don't want to lose that volume.A small town dealership that sells maybe 15-20 tractors a year and a few pieces of equipment is soon to be a thing of the past. These dealers can't afford to open a second store,to carry parts, stock it,make payroll,on a small volume of equipment,so they pick the one that makes them the most money and go with that brand. Welcome to corporate America!!

Ways to get your contract cancled. (In no particular order)

1. Don't meet market share goals.
2. Sell out of trust.
3. Lack of equity.
4. File fraudulent warranty claims.
5. Mutually agree to terminate.

It is tough to stock parts and whole goods, train technicians, and purchase special tools for two different product lines.

From being in the dealership business for a long time, I'd say everyone is right on the money! The bad thing is when things aren't selling those companies keep changing regional sales managers and of course they are watching floor plan accounts and if your behind on payments they put you on COD for parts so everytime the UPS truck rolls up you gotta cut a check and all you need is a couple bad accounts past due plus you gotta make payroll, people get unhappy when they don't get a paycheck. Boy am I glad I'm not into that anymore! I could go on and on but anyway they all do it no matter what color. Just remember that when you have the dealer in a squeeze on a past due tractor that he wants to get rid of maybe you need to cut him some slack or you'll be going 100 to 200 miles for parts and at $2 gasoline do the math.

Seems like some number cruncher needs to rethink their numbers. They may sell 5 machines a month from three dealers they are closing and now they will be selling 0 machines a month. Bad Business Redirection if you ask me. They couldn`t sell machines so they wanted the dealers to keep the line running by having more inventory than they could move over a reasonable time. The interest alone on sitting inventory will kill a small business. Sounds like MF will be doing some changes when they hit the bottom of the well.

The real deal is AGCO wants to loose some of its dealers and this is what they are doing. They come in and say you must stock X number of tractors and X number of parts and if you don't play then you are out. In most dealerships the MF line is a side line anyway. MF has no tractors that will do the work Kubota's will do. Kubota had 0.00% no down on BX series or 4.99% for 72 months on B, BX, L and M series. MF had nothing close to that. NO I am not a Kubota fan you cut me i bleed RED.

Here is what MF has. Looks to me that it beats most.
Compacts 0.9% Fixed Rate for 36 Months
Utility, Specialty, Mid-Range 0% Fixed Rate for 36 Months
Row Crop 1.9% Fixed Rate for 60 Months

Massey has a full line of big farm tractors that Kubota "doesn't" have. Also the Massey "farm" tractors the same hp of the Kubota's are heavier duty than the M series that Kubota sells.

Also Massey does have a sub compact tractor to compete with the BX, but i don't have the specs on it in front of me.

For a long time, JD dealers not only could not sell other makes of tractors, they could only sell short lines that did not compete with JD products. Believe they have eased up a bit now.

I was surprised to see that the local Deere dealer now also has Kubota.... Considering that small tractors are their main sellers, it seems to be a conflict.

There were a few other posts to the different boards on the same subject. A person from Texas(?) had the same thing happen. Has to go to another town for parts.

Hard to buy the product if it's not in a place we are looking...

I know of 2 kubota / massey dealers in the area, no problems there but kubota US and Canada are separate companies unlike Massey.

Agco parts in Canada are somehow influenced by some company in Quebec, a neighbour has been having a heck of time getting parts ordered for some planters and such. Had to get permission for the dealer to order the parts or something. Just an air tube, nothing fancy.
