I had the same problem and spend countless dollars looking for the cure. Everything from smoke bombs, poison gas bombs, moles traps, whirlygigs, flooding the holes, cats, dogs, insecticides, irritant sprays. My final solution was to sell the house and move. Nothing else seemed to work.

Larry,

As you no doubt know, sale of Diazinon for non-agricultural use was outlawed December 31st, 2004.

Had this problem we I was young and foolish. We got over run with moles and golfers, tried the whole bag of tricks, poisons, traps and anything someone said might work, well nothing seem to work very well. I remember my Dad going to the local auto parts getting 6 to 8 feet of steel flex exhaust pipe came home and told me to get the tractor. He shoved the pipe onto the exhaust pipe of the tractor, the other end down the varment hole, started tractor and let it run for awhile. We continued the method for all the mounts we could find,,,END of varments. Been using this method every since. "Oh when we were young and foolish, now have gotten old and stupid." just my 2 cents...Keith in Gods country

its really a scam that grub killer is advertised to get rid of moles.moles eat alot more earthworms than grubs.if it killed all worms and grubs it might work. ive killed 78 moles over the last 3 years. best trap ive used is scizzor trap from gemplers.com, the cheeper one. the vibration devices you push into the ground do work as my neighbor uses them in his front yard, but they just moved to the outskirts of the area.home depot sells these devices. there is a pretty extensive disscussion on moles in the perr.com forum. i wish it were as easy as just puttin a chemical on the ground to get rid of moles.ive tried the oils you spray on the ground, smoke bombs, expensive grub killer, and they just dont work. get a good scizzor or loop trap ,practice getting it set right and start collecting corpses.. lucas

Try the Nash brand "Choker Loop" trap. Does a good job and they are usually less than $20.00.

I have 3 of them for when we get multiple invaders. I have been using them for about 20 years and wouldn"t be without.

If you get rid of the Grubs (What the moles are after), the moles disappear. I use K-Mart grub killer-don't have to broadcast spread much to get-r-dun.

I haven't convinced anyone of this yet.Why do I keep trying LOL.My agronomist friend who works for Chem Lawn and has taught turf management at Purdue says, yes, moles do eat grubs but their favorite food is earthworms.

Carefully take a rod and open up the main passage ways in several places. Take a cup of gasoline and pour down 1 cup in several holes and light it. It will burn for several minutes and since the carbon dioxide is heavier than air goes down into the tunnels and hangs there until the little fur balls come along and take a good dose and get high and keel over. We are in the landscape maint business and have used this for years and is very effective and no pain to the critters. migraine

There is a specific tool to do this very thing. I forget where I found the link to it though. It uses gasoline/propane mix and the shock wave kills them when you flip the ignitor. It works for all underground pests.
I wonder if the rent-all stores have them?

I have heard the only way to get rid of them is to kill their food supply off, use insecticide to kill the insects. Search the net to see if there is other ways to get rid of them.

Find an active run, stick a broom stick in the run and put 2 tsp. of Lewis Lye or Drano down the hole. Leave the hole open, they will try to clean up the run and get it on their feet and die. Do it in a couple different places. They are not social animals, there is only 1 mole per acre. It's worked for us for a couple years.
