My 12 year-old son has an older 100cc dirt bike. The points have slipped. What is the proper point gap? Thanks...

Seems like we used to set them at .015 (15 thousandths)on most dirt bikes..... .

I can't really help but I do know this, if you use a box flap like the ones a set of points come in it will be close enough to run well.

You could probbably set them at .015 or .020 but that is how those engines are timed and the gap also changes the timing. I have seen a micorometer type gauge screwed into the plug hole and at the manufature,s specs at so many thousnths of an inch before tdc the points must break(open) at that spec. Would there be timing marks on the breaker plate? Just my .02
