I was wandering if anyone could tell me why my 1957 oliver 880 will run for a little while but then it acts like it runs out of gas under a load. When i slow down the engine speed it will run fine. Thanks

Thanks for all the input. Ihave just rebuilt the carb. I was thinking that i did something wrong I can walk besidde the tractor and adjust the needle valve but it dont help. I do see gas leaking out the what looks to be just a hole with a plug in it on the front bottom of the carb. It only leaks when it is shut off. I was wandering why the gas was not shut off by the float. Any responce greatly appreciated.

If you unhook the fuel line at the carburetor, set a 5 gallon bucket under it,turn on the gas you should still have a full stream of fuel comming out of the end of the line a full two minutes after you turned the gas on, if not start looking between there and the tank. If you have that start looking in the carburetor. By the way the 880 was introduced in the spring of 1958.

Sids right on track, pull the plug out of the bottom of the carb, you should get a good flow of gas out of it. If you don't you have a glogged fuel system. Check the line and all filters. If you get a good flow then you probably will need to rebuild the carb.

My guess is restricted fuel supply, plugged filter or something in fuel line, or something in bottom of tank restricting fuel from getting in the line. Maybe even a dirty carburetor.

Very well could be a gas supply problem but I would check the high speed (load) jet if you are geeting good gas supply. It could also be a float set too low.
