What is the cost of top soil in your area. I have a damn to keep flash floods from distroying my patures. During heavy rains or snow run off I get a lot top soil washed down behind my damn. Its too the point now where I have no damn and I need to get rid of the top soil, Just wondering what I should ask for it.

I sell it all the time, I get $25 per dump truck load which is about 10-12 yards of it. Dirt is cheap the trucking is what cost the big $$

Who ever coined the phrase "Cheap as dirt" hasn't bought any lately....

What I'm familiar with is "delivered to jobsite". In that case, you pay more for the trucking than the dirt in all likelyhood.

Last fall, I had 4 loads hauled for a grading job I was doing. I paid $390 a tri-axle load for good (not great) topsoil delivered. (That's about 23 to 25 tons) That seems to be "the going rate" around here.

Had a neighbor that wanted a pond on his place.

Accidentally found a bobtail trucker who just happened to have a track loader which also functioned as a dozer, who needed some good dirt.

Interesting thing about his pond is that it"s just a hole in the ground so he had no dam to build. Filled up in the first year.

Ain"t life sweet.

Mark

I am paying $8 - $12/yd delivered to my jobsite right now. Depends on quality of dirt.
