My wifes Z-34 Monte Carlo tranny is acting like the Modulator Valve is bad. Trouble i'm having looking for parts online, is no Modulator Valve is listed. So can someone tell me what they call that part on these Trans-Axle cars?

what are symptoms ? No modulators on them for years now ,,electronic controled . engine miss or poor running can act like tranny troubles . Need more details to help ya figure it out though

I agree,

She's probably droppin' a cylinder; more than likely a plug wire. Doubt if it is in the tranny.

Reido,

That transmission doesn't have a modulator valve; nobody has used those things for years. What is the car doing?

Last bad modulator valve I dealt with was leaking and the engine was burning tranny fluid.

Thanks for the replies. I failed too mention that this is a 1995 model, don't know if that is significant. The car "shudders", best way I know to describe it, when under light acceleration. Kick it on down and it straightens up. Have an 89 F-150 that was doing very similar thing, and after much trouble shooting, modulator valve was the fix.
Appreciate your help.

chech your egr valve, unhook it see it the shudder goes away under light acceleration, if it does you have to replace it.

Allan pegged it ! Bet money it's plug wire .throw set of wires on it .I get lot of referrals from tranny shop for this problem . 9 times outta 10 it plug wires
