Hi Guys,

The wife and I took a little 100 mile road trip this morning and 're-looked' at a little farm totally out in the middle of nowhere.

Didn't see another blessed soul nor another vehicle of any kind for two solid hours, although we did spot one danged jackrabbit that seemed to be in charge of things.

Dunno, with that kind of salesmanship, just might have to make an offer on that little piece of paradise. :>)

Allan,

Sounds perfect!

I spend a lot of time traveling through Kansas for work and my favorite trips are in central and western Kansas where the people are few and far between. A few years ago my work carried me to western Nebraska. Fell in love with the rolling hills and lack of people. Spent a lot of time in your neck of the woods, around Chadron. Always thought it would be great to live where you couldn't see or hear any neighbors.

Not that I dislike people, they just annoy me most of the time... : )

No one or vehical within 2 hours? How horrible! How tragic! Obviously gonna have to get satellite cause aint got cable. Oops, already got that. Well, then gonna have to get propane because aint got no gas pipe. Oops, already used to that too. Hmm? Well, gonna have to get a well, because aint no city water pipes or sewage out there - now gonna have to get septic too. Huh? Already used to that too you say? Well then Allan, here's the back breaker, here's the clencher de'la^tat', the end all for end alls of why you can't and should not do it. Ready for this? Holdin on to your seat and keyboard? Got the wife strapped in too? You are gonna need a generator for backup power and UPS's to protect them computers from surges. Now what do you think of that? Huh? Oh, already got them. LOL.

Do you like it Allan? Does the wife like it Allan? Goin to the store once a week kind've like a day out of site seeing and shootin the bull with the town folk that are just as happy to see you as you will be them? Is all up to you. Good luck in your decision(s).

No cars comin down the road going "boom ba ba, boom ba ba, boom ba ba" shakin the windows and rattlin the walls and their trunk lids? Life jussst sucks, jussst aint fair, but thems the breaks. Can't have everything Allan, jussst can't.

Hi Don,

I sometimes wonder if it is safe anywhere anymore. I just feel better knowing that if I see a dust cloud on the horizon that it has gotta be headed for me and I can be ready for it.

Kinda like the derned tornadoes. I wanna see where they are comin' from and which direction they're headed. Can always duck and cover at the last minute. :>)

Sounds like a paradise to me! If you can get water and power, set up a travel trailer and get in the dirt. Seems a terrible shame to see all that nice line of iron set for a whole year without use. Man I'm really having withdrawal symptons now too with not farming this year. I think I will offer to do some dirt work for farmers if they will just put the fuel in the beasts. I'd say if you could get a lease to own deal for a year or two it would become clear in a hurry if this is the way to go. Migraine

"Didn't see another blessed soul nor another vehicle of any kind for two solid hours"

Check the area out,and maybe you'll find out why.
Rock 2" under soil - No close ground water - Contaminated from years ago - I'm sure you've cheched it all out.

First house I bought, I visited it a dozen times before I bought it. On move in day I asked the previous owner when did they build those 2 story apartments across the street, he said about 10 years ago.

Trees. It's got to have trees. Takes more than one life time to grow them.

Wish you'd tell that to that danged poplar that's at the corner of my property. It's right next to the property marker, and I didn't wanna pull it out when it was little enough I could still do that. It's about 12 inch diameter and over 60 ft tall now, and it's less than 15 years old.
