Like everyone else I am looking to cut down my mowing. I have a John Deer 4020 and am looking at putting a 7' landpride finish mower behind it or just spending more money and getting a zero turn mower. Does anyone have any opinions on which finish mower would be the best? Thanks

now mind you I'm a vivid red fan but gotta admit I love the 4020/4320's, with that in mind, if you got enough to justify the 4020 then why not get a Woods or Landpride batwing rear-discharge finish mower, the 4020 otta handle at least a 15 footer, if you don't have that much to mow think about a zero turn. LOL David P.S. how about a picture of the 4020 (hope Allan don't read this)

Oh ya, if your lawn is big enough to justify it! I despise those little "lawn Tractors" It's either a small push mower or something "real" for me.

Hey not to start a war but: Get yourself an 800 Case and a TD 1700 Bushhog finish mower.(three six foot decks) Old 800 can mow 15 acers per hour and it looks like a golf course. Old Case mows over 100 acers every week. Now about that 4020, use it for what it is good at, ???? hummmmm m"
Have a splendid day.

Reducing Mowing Time in reply to Corey Bandel, 04-20-2005 10:34:17
I went from a 60" belly mower to a 60" zero turn and reduced my mowing time by near half. No wasted motion w/zero turn. And so good/stable on hills (Kubota Z21)...much safer.

If you like a manicured lawn, the 4020 probably isn't a good choice, as it's heavy, and even if you were to put some type of turf tires on it, I'm afraid it would be tough to turn without scuffing up the lawn.

I agree,

A 4020 is not a lawn mower tractor, that's for sure.

Wow! Was that Allen saying that a GREEN tractor is good for more than mowing the lawn? Maybe I interpreted wrong. He must have meant that a 4020 is not even any good as a mowing tractor! You should have recommended a 966 for that job.
