I have a K2500 that is in need of another motor. I would like to know how hard it is to remove and replace. I am swapping the bad old motor with a good motor that is the same size (350 TBI). I already replaced head gaskets and other various items on the engine before, so I had it ripped down pretty far already. Is it hard to unbolt the motor from the tranny? Any tips would be great.

youmay want to put tags on the wires identifiing where they go, a video tape of the engine compartment may come in handy too.

It depends on what you have for tools, the exhaust will probably be the worst part, otherwise just make some notes to where wires and any other items go, it should be a simple swap, do you have an auto or manual, the auto is probably easier, just remove the cover below the tq convertor and their should be 3 bolts to the flywheel, you might want to put a block or some kind of support under it so it does not tilt forward, their are plenty of knowledgeable guys on here to help with any prob you may encounter

I plan on replacing the exhaust after the new motor is in. I have a Automatic tranny. Are there "special" tools that I needs?

I just meant that you would need more than the basics, their are alot of metric fasteners on these models, also an engine hoist, and a lot of patience, they are not all that hard to work on as long as you don't get into a weird computer or sensor problem.
