Over the past while, my Outlook Express email has been unable to open attatchments, even simple worded ones. I can open up some old email attatchments from the past (that I had stored) and can send sample emails with my attatchments to myself and open them up, however I cannot open attatchments that others currently send me.

I get a message that "THE COMPUTER HAS PERFORMED AN ILLEGAL OPERATION", and when I hit the "details window for that message it reads:

This may be a little primitive. I have mine set pretty high and get the basically same thing. NOW if I click forward,(like you are forwarding it) when the screen comes up, then right click the attachment, then on the next screen Open it. Works for me. Let us know.

Look at the settings in the Outlook Express Tabs,,,,, Tools/Options/Security Settings for one and the other is how any Firewall settings may be configured.

Hi Way,

I'm no wizard, but do you have your firewall set up to block 'em? Mine does the same thing if I set the security too darned high.
