I recently saw a post about tractor shows. Brings an interesting question. Where is your favorite show? When? What are the highlights?

I belong to a club in Gibsonburg, Ohio - SCRAP - Sandusky County Restorer's of Antique Power. The show is Labor day weekend each year in Gibsonburg, OH (25 miles SE of Toledo). Awesome show! What fun! We have about 300 to 400 tractors, countless engines, old farm trucks, etc, horses working in the field, threshing, shelling, sawing, grinding, pulling - all that fun stuff! I can't wait already! Lots of food and old fashioned music in the big tent, too! Huge auction on Monday.

Tell me about yours (maybe I'll visit!)

For those in/near New England Memorial Day weekend is the show in Bernardston, MA just off rte 91, the show in Orange, MA the third weekend in June, Les Bradley's show in Thornton(?), NH 7/16, and the Eliot show in ME the following week, just over the line from NH.

Howdy Jeff,

Just gonna add to what Brian in Ohio said. I too belong to the club in Georgetown and go down every year. It's a great show but has shown a bit of a downturn in the last few years. I did some research back to when I was younger and the club had some really great shows. Back in 1995 they hosted the national meet for Rumley tractors and had some tractors (saw pics on a website) that I had never seen before. Back in '98 the national ford meet was there. In recent years the featured tractor section looks like a ghost town. We had allis chalmers a couple years back and there were under 30 tractors there. That's sad. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the club and the show. In fact, it's the only show I go to and have taken my tractor(s) there every year since becoming a member in 99. It just bothers me that so many more make their way to the flea market across the creek than into the tractor area. I dunno. I still love the show and it is a great show to go to. So, don't let my nitpickin keep anyone away. A lot of great folks down here and we'd love to see ya there. Look for a guy in a floppy white hat on a Farmall A that is havin its yearly machinery show fit and you'll find old fashioned farmer heheh. God bless.

The LaGrange Engine Club has a show every year. This year is September 16, 17, 18 2005, at the Lorain County Fairgrounds in Wellington, Ohio.

It's a great show, already very big, and seems to get bigger and better every year. Last year there were over 200 tractors and 12 steamers, but LOTS of other stuff too- small engines, cars, trucks, bikes, etc. Steam threshing, a Baker fan, and a dyno.

Here is there website, with details and photos LaGrange Engine Club

Hope to see you there!
Brandon

There is also a very interesting motorcycle show at the same fairgrounds about a week after the National Thresherman's show.
