656 wide front end info

hi,i have a 656 utility tractor.unlike ones i have seen this one has a factory wide front end that sets back about a foot or foot and a half further back under the front of the tractor.was it built for county and state uses or? any info would be great.. thanks..

marcus: From your description, I think you have the standard axle for a Utility. It is a swept back axle, giving the tractor shorter wheel base. All Utilities have a wide front end as they came from factory.

thanks hugh,i"ve seen a few 656"s with a wide front similar to the ones seen on a 706,806 etc where the front end is below the cradle. this one was unique and i had to find out a littlew more again thanks

marcus: the model you saw with axle like 706 or 806 would actually be the Farmall 656, called the row crop model. The utilities are set somewhat closer to the ground.
