i got a guy pretty hot after my tractor and he is from overseas, and I am located in MN. I was wondering if anyone thinks this guy is on the up and up, or i'm i dealing with someone yanking my chain? He promptly emails me back, and he says its for personal use. I just cant believe someone out there would pay such amounts of money to get a product and to ship it too. So, what are some of your thoughts???

What do you have for sale, and at what price? How does it compare with dealing in the region- without the risk you state here?

Be VERY, VERY careful!! If he wants to send you a cashier's check, make sure it clears at the bank, before you ship or send anything to that guy! The scammers send cashier checks for much more money than you are asking for your item for sale, then ask you to arrange and pay for shipping, etc., and send any money left over to him via money order. it takes 3-6 weeks for his check to clear as good, and if it doesn't clear as good, and you have already sent the money difference to him, guess who has to pay the money back to the bank, or the money order folks! Him? NO, NO! YOU!! by: Rustyj

I've sold and shipped overseas. Use inteligence in conducting the deal. You know the normal signs to watch out for.

I placed a number of items in classified sales area on this website and everyone of those adds had at lease one respondant from some african country asking me to cash their bank check and imediatly give some guy the excess cash. I've also had good experiences with the transactions I've completed

This forign guy might be ok but why take the risk.

If he can pay you in cash - green backs - US dollars then he can have it FBO my back yard - it's his. Other wise it's not worth the risk or trouble having it shipped.

We're not experts in international shipping.

usually if it is a scam you can see through it really quick. If the guy is wanting someone else to pick it up and you give him some money or somethin run! if you can talk to the guy on the phone, set up a system of payment that is logical and reasonable then if he wants to ship it and pay for it sell it to him. Look over on the JD board , there is a guy on there who lives in Wales , bought a 6030 here in PA and had it shipped. Really nice guy but you do need to be careful. if it sounds the least bit shady don't bother with it.

I love to see for foreign buyers. Just have to be careful and protect yourself. Make sure he understands that the funds have to clear before the item ships. Also, make sure that you have the freight and port fees covered, plan smart about which port you use. Also play smart about countries we cant ship to. I usually send stuff out of Canada, ports are a lot cheaper. The whole trip to S. Korea was cheaper going CP rail to Vancouver than just the port charges in San Francisco or Seattle.

I know there are alot of online scams to be careful of but the guy just may be on the up and up. I have talked to a guy over in Sweden about parts for a Terex loader he's got with a Detroit in it. He was looking for a parts source in the US. He said parts are SO expensive over there that even with the added expense of having them shipped it saved him ALOT of money. Another guy I talked to that sold stuff like stereo equipment, etc on ebay said he often sold stuff to people overseas for the ame reason. He said he had sold one set of speakers for nearly $2000 plus the shipping for them to somewhere like Australia. Same thing, he said the guy that bought them said the same setup over there would have cost him nearly $4000, so the $2000 along with shipping was still a bargain. Like any other transaction, just make sure you have the funds in your account and GUARANTEED before you let the machine go. Too, make the guy doing buying it get all the proper export paperwork and expenses taken care of so all you need to do is basically drop it off and let it go. That way you don't get stuck after the fact with shipping/export expenses you didn't know about. No matter how many scams there are going on there are still honest people out there. Just remember when your talking about selling stuff on a global scale just because something doesn't make sense for somebody to do in the US doesn't mean it the same deal won't be a bargain to somebody in another country. Just my .02

Just a thought--I don"t know what country the purchaser is from, but does the state department allow exports into that country?

Will you have any problems acting as an exporter?

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

99.99% of overseas responses are scams.

Stay away from that deal. It's more than likely a scam. If you really want to sell your tractor,
sell to someone here at home, but don't trust these
suspicous over seas buyers.

Go to the search box at the top of the page and type "scams". If you do business with these people you should loose all of your money!
