The 3 pt hitch lift on my LONG 445 is very eratic. It will lift a little, stop, lift some more, stop, and lift some more. The power steering is stiff and my 3 pt hitch log splitter moves a little, stops, moves a little more, stops and moves some more. The whole time the hydrolic system whines. Any help in trouble shooting this problem will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

sounds like your tractor wants some hydraulic-fluid or a new filter for it...
should work then...
espacially in your LONG tractor there a LONG ways that require more oil...

I have a 445 and a 360. Here are some ideas. Check the level of hyd. oil with dipstick on top of transmission case. I use 30 wt ND in mine. See if the filter is clogged and needs to be cleaned. It is located in hyd. line on right side below the starter. I soak mine in gas then blow with compressed air. Make sure you do not lose the rubber washer on the filter and the o ring in the end plug. If very dirty, you may need to change the oil. There are 2 drain plugs-under transmission and rear end. There are some other parts of the lift that can be checked, but you must have a good supply of clean oil and a clean filter for both the ps and lift to work properly. Good Luck
