I"m in a situation where I need to clean a machine miles from the shop. Will a piston type pump operate on water that is gravity flowed from a tank?

If it doesn't work, all you'd need is one of those cheapy drill-operated pumps between the tank and the pressure washer. That should provide enough flow/pressure.

Hi Should not be a problem, I have a gas powered pressure washer , on which I mounted a 5 gal. tank for soap, hot water, solvents (pump safe ones) etc, its hooked -gravity feed, to the inlet with a valve for switching from the garden hose back and forth. Works great..
Enjoy spring

I think it will work if you had it following freely so that the pump can get the water
