found this dream and am interested in the value. Orininal Paint and ID numbers on all the parts with JD intertwined. Working after a little lube and oil. This baby is a beautiful ole piece of history that is functional!! If anyone has any infor or what the cost of this would be for resale please contact me. I found it on property I bought and its like I said all original and has the John Deere emblem in many places and like I said earlier this baby works. Not bad for a widow whose husband had the good sense to teach his wife and young some how to drive bush hog and now this. I have no use for this but I cant help but feel I have found something really special
Thanks you and look forward to your emails

Smiths Tractor Repair in Edwardsburg, MI. 269/663-2577. Maybe they can help. Sorry took so long, but got the wrong Smiths when I did get it. Give them a call, maybe fax them a picture? Just heard they're gonna slow down this business. Not happy to hear that, for any reason.

Good luck.

Mark

For that year it would have to be a John Deere-Dain rake as Deere bought out Dain for their hay line and all Deere mowers and rakes started out as Dain. Is this a dump rake or a side rake as I understand the first Deere Dain side rake came out in 1922, either way it would only have value to Deere colectors. I have a Deere Dain side rake, no paint left, that was given to me a couple of years ago as the ones that gave it to me knew I wouldn't junk it as I colect old machinery. If it is a side rake and has any paint left to show orignal paint colors I would like to have some color pictures if I ever get to restoring the one I have

Kim, I don't have a clue to it's value. Wouldn't happen to have a digital camera that you can download pictures to your PC from, would you? Maybe one you can borrow from a friend? If you do, or can get one, can post a picture here under implement photos, and then post your question under impliments asking them to look at the photo and maybe give you a sense from that. Worth a shot.

For the most part, folks here are pretty friendly, helpful, and honest.

Where abouts are you in Indiana? I'm up in Bristol (weekends), Illinois (weeks). There is a implement place on 119 S. down by Wakarusa, Martins, but don't have a phone book here, maybe they can help, if you're up that far. Also, is a place in Edwardsburg, MI where the two daughters run the place for the father, and either of them rebuilds tractors and impliments with the best of them, and then sells them and other stuff. Reciepts are in the manuals back home, can get a number tomorrow. Too late to wake anyone up now. Maybe they can help you too.

I haven't forgotten you. That is Martins down in Wakarusa, and I thought Smiths in Edwardsburg, but it aint Smiths - thats in Watervaliet, MI. I'll try to get hold of a friend and ask today, because no one can find any reciepts back home. Guess I put them in too safe of a place.
