Today Pope John Paul II passed away around 2:30 EST. To me it almost seems as though a family member had passed away... To all of you who are feeling this loss, I would like to say that my thoughts and prayers are with you...

While anyone's death saddens me, a true protestant should see cause for alarm with the pope's broad global appeal. Bible prophecy is clear! I am not an alarmest but, STUDY your Bible folks! Glenn F.

In short it is the 3 angel's messages of Revelation 14:6-10. The reformers of the 16th century, (Martin Luther, etc.) had a clear understanding of this truth. Modern day protestants have more and more lost sight of the issues they are protesting. I would love to have a Bible study with anyone who is interested (it would be good for me too), but this forum is not the place for such discussions. Glenn F.

I pray for Pope John and am in anticipation he can now petition Him face to face for our salvation. God bless us all.

Pope John Paul II was a witness to the truth. Though the truth is not always something we want to hear we must recognize it and acknowledge it. He was a selfless leader and as a Catholic and a Christian I will miss him and his leadership very much. He has run the course, finished the race, he has kept the faith. He is home with his Lord and Master experiencing the joy that can only be found in the presence of God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit.

(Translation for everyone else, lest they think we are talking about them: Paul asked me if I speak Polish and I told him that I can't converse very well in Polish. Not easy to write without the right letters.

I agree. The Pope was a great man, one of best leaders we have had for the church so far. He "practiced what he preached" and I'm sure has gone to his reward.

Although I'm not Catholic, Pope John Paul stood for everything we should believe in and live by. This is truely a sad day, But we can all take heart in the promise that we all know where he now resides, for he never wavered from the teachings of the great instruction manual of life.

Well, I AM Catholic and this Pope failed us,
big time. Yes, he was quite popular with folks
who didn't want to think and on the world scene.

However, he failed the children and other vulnerable people in the recent abuse scandal
which has rocked the Church. He refused to meet
with abuse victims, ever. He topped it off by
giving Cardinal Bernard Law a cushy spot in Rome, safe from the US Legal system.

When AIDS was ravaging Africa, he still insisted
that couples EVEN WHERE ONE PARTNER IN A MARRIED COUPLE WAS KNOWN TO BE HIV-POSITIVE should not use condoms.

In addition, he surpressed scholarship and exploration of theological ideas to an extent heretofore unknown in the past century.

This Pope reminded me of the big man-about-town
whom puts on a great public display, and then goes home and treats his own wife and kids like
dirt.

He had great compassion for Iraq. Too bad he
didn't have nearly so much for Catholics.
