Howdy folks,

First, I want to apologize for my being leery of posting that prayer request. I guess at the time with everything going on I wasn't really thinkin straight. For I'm not ashamed of my faith and I know the power of prayer (have witnessed it many times over)so feeling like it was a burden to you all and worrying about topic content isn't really who I am. Now, since that's out of the way, I'll give you an update on dad. He is in Jewish hospital (yeah, I figured it would be Christ or University too). I was down to see him both yesterday and today. The surgery went great. He had 5 bypasses done, using arteries from his left arm. He was taken off the respirator last night just after I went home and is now even being fed solid foods. So praise the Lord for that. He was talking today and sitting in a chair. He also didn't look like the back side of a computer today either. Yesterday he had so many wires and tubes it was just terrible. So that's another blessing. The nurse said that by this evening (I guess that's now isn't it) he would be walked up and down the halls some to start getting him back to moving around. So, God has been very good to us and is healing him just fine. Sure, he's gonna be pretty restricted for a good little bit on what he can do (and I will crack the whip myself on that) but otherwise he is doing wonderful. He was still sleepy today but with as much stuff as they've got him on it's no surpise. I want to thank each of you from the bottom of my heart for your prayers. God knows who you are and I pray each day for Him to bless each of you ten times as much as He's blessed me. Dad had a great big smile on his face when I told him that you all were praying for him. He and I have both been helped so many times by you fine folks so your prayers mean a lot to him. Well, that's about it for now. Again, thank you. God bless.

I think it's amazing how far medicine has advanced in the last 20 years. When my Dad had 4 bypasses, the worst part for me was seeing him right after surgery on a respirator and full of painkillers.

Just remember how much better he'll be in a few weeks. You'll soon see progress every day.

Best wishes to you and your family. Jim.

I'm so glad to read that your dad is doing so well.
They get them up and around very fast any more to help prevent respiratory illls.

My brother had by-pass surgery in 1996 and has been back to work since healing in 1997. About the only thing he has really changed is that he now carries a cell phone with him when he is out hunting by himself. I'm sure your dad will do great too at his come back.

And may God bless you and yours, and may your father begin a much healthier, meaningful, and enjoyable life. This might be the Easter you never forget, in that your father is recovering for a much bigger and second chance with many many healthy years ahead of him. Hopefully you and yours can always look back to this one and smile at the promising future given to all, for it is just the beginning.

Mark

I did not see your original post until just now so I can't take credit for offering up any of the prayers but I will say that we have some good folks here and I am glad your Dad is getting along well.

My Mom had heart surgery last year and I know what you are going through. The biggest difference is that her surgery was scheduled ahead of time and not an emergency so we were expecting it.

Make sure your Dad does all of the exercises , therapy and whatever else the Doc tells him too or he will be back in surgery or even worse.

God Bless your Dad and all of you !

Glad to hear your Dad is doing so much better. Of course the doctors and nurses are to be respected for their knowledge and loving care, but isn"t God Great. Praise God. Will keep you in my prayers.

Old fashioned farmer it's good to hear from you and its great that your dad is doing well. I have a long list of folks that i say prayers for each night and soon as i saw your post your dad joined that list. I know first hand that prayers work because in December I was out of work with a medical problem and the Doctor said I had a 50% chance of not comming thru it but i know a lot of folks were praying for me and by darn I came back 100%. So please keep us posted and tell your dad a lot of folks from all over the USA are praying for him.. God Bless
