How much do you guys pay to have your tractors sandblasted? One guy priced it at $125 around here but he is some times really slow about it, and I would like to have my tractor this summer. Do you know of any other good places around Southern Iowa? I'm in Osceola. Thanks for the info!

I do sand blasting in Omaha, and I would be more than happy to help you out. Plus we are fast. You can call me at 402-894-1800. The company is Metro Media Blasting.

Never attempt to sand blast an assembled tractor. No matter how careful you are. There WILL be sand in a cooling or lubrication system. A lye bath to remove paint and FIT's electrolysis is far superior.

I had my UBU done. All sheet metal and miscellaneous levers, handles, etc. were removed from the tractor. I siliconed and masked all of the places where I didn't want sand to enter (axle seals, engine components, serial number plates, etc. I had a guy come and do the blasting with a mobile unit. It took 2.5 hours and he charged me $190.

Boy am I glad that I work in a Sand Plant! I get a broken pallet for free and I bring my own blaster to work and scoop the mess up with the loader if need be.

No wonder he is slow. When I do a tractor it takes 15 to 20 bags of Black Beauty at $8 a bag plus the gas for the compressor. All said and done you have a days work with $200 in materials. I usually get around $500. Maybe your guy is worth the wait.

18 to 20 bag of sand @$8.oo ????? ?????I helped do a tractor used 4 bags, did one for myself and used 5 bags. Did a wonderful job of cleaning but found sand in front wheel bearing. Cover and tape or expect to clean out every place that AIR can get into.

I just paid $235 to get the frame and wheels blasted on a Massey Harris 44 and I thought that was reasonable. Its the last one for me,however.Too much metal got blown away to suit me.From now on it will be the old lye gravy approach.

Hi,
Tell me more about the lye-gravy approach?
I need to clean up the rear end and front axle of a 570S cockshutt before painting. The rest of the tractor has been dipped.
Thanks,

Sorry but im reading this and thinking holy cats do you need my design..

I designed a sandblaster from JUNK in the form of a 40-gallon tank doing like everyone else does.. a POT blaster.. after it was done I didnt like the idea of having no control when restoring my 31" Chevy parts.. (75 year old parts are hard to find as you all know)

Check my link without me sounding like a bull in a china cabinet ok?, Im no salesman, Just a guy that re-invented the way you remove rust..
