The local farm/fleet has a hyd. stroke control kit on sale. It looks like a set of aluminum doughnuts that clamp on the cyl. ram. any one ever use these? thanks.

Just be sure you buy the correct diameter for your cylinder piston rod, come in 1", 1 1/8", 1 1/4" possibly other sizes, used then for probably 20 years

I use them on my batwings center deck to set the cutting height. I can raise the mower to the limit or the cylinder stroke but it drops to the preset level. Also use them to set depth on no till drill. Same principle. They work perfectly to prevent full retraction or to return to a preset length. They dont help on the length of the full extended stroke.

We use them in the marine bussiness for setting the stroke of hyd. rams on trim cylinders(there made out of zinc) work good.

If you are thinking what I am thinking, every farmer needs a bucket full ot them. A necsity, decesary, (OH hell, you got to have them) Aluminun not as good as iron though.

Bucher,

If it is what I'm thinking it is, your cylinder will have to have the 'shut off' plunger.

They wrap around the cylinder ram and are held together with a thumbscrew tightener? This type works great with IH cylinders, anyway.

But, maybe you are looking at something totally different, tho.

that sounds like it. I have an 8" cyl. that I would like to shorten to a 6" throw. Its just a generic one from TSC. I guess I am to cheap to buy the cyl. I need.

Butcher,

Just goes to show how far behind the times I am; never seen that type before, but they should work great from the looks of 'em.

Thanks for the picture,

Allan

Assuming yout tractor has detents, those gismos work well with most any cylinder. The hyd go into bypass & flip the control lever off, as if the cyl had reached max stroke.

They work with the IHC type as well, when the thumbscrew deal strips it's threads & you don't have anything else along in the toolbox.....

Anyhow, started using them (like your picture) 5 years ago, work well.
