My neighbor has a ford tractor he wants to get rid of. The tractor hasen't run for years. I have no idea what model it is. It is a four cylinder overhead valve motor. There is a fill plug directly over the rearend. The hood has a small grill on the the top front. The tack sits on a raised part of the dash. It has a loder which says Ford. Can any one tell me what model this is with these clues. Thanks Stan

"The hood has a small grill on the the top front"
so, I guess for a 5000, 5600(4 cyl OHV), english made, 1965 and up, blue and gray if agricultural.
Could be US thousand series if "small grill" correspond what on a 2000/4000 hood.

Well...

"four cylinder overhead valve motor" - rules out 52 and down. Rules out some of later 0000's series diesels.

"fill plug directly over the rearend" - 53 and up to about earily 0000's series had this. later 0000's have same fill point?

"hood has a small grill on the the top front" - On side or front, on the left side fits NAA and 000's, early 0000's. On front I think would be later 0000's.

"tack sits on a raised part of the dash" - If raised part is rounded, NAA, 000's, early 0000's.
If square'd later 0000's.

But that just a guess..... .

Thanks for attempting to help me find out what model the ford is. The tack. which sits above the temp and pressure is in a rounded housing. The small grill when looking at front is at the very top and is a small half moon shape maybe 8" wide x 3" tall. I guess I should just drag it home and worry about the model later. The owner is giving it to me. Thanks, Stan

Thanks for the pictures. The thing looks like a 4000 A P or a 2000 A P 62 to 64. Where would the numbers be on the ford tractors. Stan

learn something new everyday. I looked at them and just assumed they were part of a hood.

This will help with ID.

Look for a small flat spot below and slightly behind the starter. If it is a hundred series or early thousand series, the model no and serial will be there.

The number is hand stamped into the cast iron, so you gotta remove grease & maybe some paint sometimes....
