Last weekend I was down in the river swamp digging out where the loggers had blocked a gut. When I got home I did my usual greasing before putting Ol' Stoney back in the barn. When I got to the main post the circled bolt caught my eye. No biggie, I thought. I'll just tap it back through and put a new nut. So when I tap it through I find what's in the second pic. Somehow the bolt managed to break off flush with the outside of the collar. That's not where the stress should be. In fact, there shouldn't be much stress anywhere. The bolt's just there to keep the pin from falling out and to be sure it rotates in the bushings. It looks like it's been about to go for a long time, like maybe it got over-tightened and almost wrung off. Oh, well. A trip to town, another 1/2x8 grade 5.
Lock nut and not too tight? We'll see.

I'm sorry William but I just don't let my equipment get to that condition. Of course maybe thats why I think I would normally catch that kind problem before it gets to this,,,,,Hope everything works out okay.....

A couple minuits with a Pressure Washer and it would be a lot easier to work on. Looks like you are leaking a lot of Hydraulic or Transmission Fluid from some where? Mark H.

Rust proofing?
Not that there aren't a few hydraulic oozes here and there, mostly the end seals on cylinders, but in that spot it's grease. I grease it after every use; the bushings are worn enough that it takes a lot. "How much should I squirt in each one," I asked years ago. "Until you see it start to come out," was the reply. Usually it gets pressure washed every year or so; my neighbor does it after I clean out the cesspool behind his deer dog pen. ;-)

That is one good thing about a few leaks it protects from rusting things out. I have the same problem with my Massey but I have to do it a couple times a year!! Power Steering box leaks under the dash and drips down on the rest of the tractor below. Mark H.
