I am going to buy a new 65 to 75 horse tractor, with a bucket, to replace my Massey 275 here in April or so. I would go with Deere, but I think I get do just as well with a different brand. I will probably use it maybe 100 hours a year, and certainly no more than 150. I was really impressed with AGCO, with the deutz diesel. What is the favorite for you guys...I have decided against New Holland, Landini, but was still thinking about Massey Ferguson, and especially this AGCO....do these machines have any bad weaknesses?

I went with a New Holland TN75S, just love to use it, lots of power, runs on vapors, great turning radius. Finally bought a rear 3 point blade with angle adjustments for the blade as well as the offset, this meant that I could use it even more. I am all ways looking for some reason to use that tractor.

My neighbor runs four Landini's and swears by them. Has been running them for many years with only the required maintainence....he says not one thing has broke yet! He has been a Ford and IH man in the past and says these Landini's make those tractors pale in comparison. I have only had a short amount of seat time on two of them...one is a 4wd with a loader and is a great tractor...the other is an Atlas 70 model I think and I found it to run, work and drive like a dream. Good luck

A realy nice tractor for dollar is the Kubota M-6800, with fwd, hydro trany and loader it will do a lot of work. Kubotas are no problems for getting parts for and realy hold up well to all types of conditions.

Green is realy nice, but too exspensive, orange is realy nice and certainly more affordable ,

just one owner/operators point of view

I am curious, why not a New Holland. What about Kubota?

I have been tractor shopping for about two months now. I have no major brand preference, I run a little bit of everything. I ended up settling on a McCormick MTX120 (115 hp). Some features are better than deere others arent. Overall it seemed to be the most bang for the buck. Its no more of a foreign tractor than any of the other brands. I did look at agco's they were in about the same price range, but I guess I favor red a tad bit so it seemed natural to go with McCormick... Ask me in a year I may have a different opinion, but it can be any worse than anything else I have ever owned....Jim

I priced FarmTrac (long), ACGO, JD, NH and a few off brands in the 65hp models. Had I went new I would have gone JD first with FarmTrac as a backup choice. Both were right at 18,000. FarmTrac had a few extra options (shuttle trans), but seem to loose value faster. JD was so-so on options but appeared to be soild and held value well. Massey and NH seem to be engineered to just meet average use. I was concerned that they might not hold up to heavy use. Both were just a tad more than the first two price wise. The two off brands that come to mind were Tafe and Mahaindra (sp) couple thousand cheaper & loaded, but parts, support, and lots-o-plastic, were a concern.

I'd give the JD some extra thought. Fairly competive price wise in the 65 hp range, has solid rep for holding value. Seriously doubt you'd have a parts issues, for a few years anyway.

Ended up going to a bigger tractor, 85hp, and bought used. Paid for vs 7 years of payments and will do anything I need to do "easily".
