does this mean four free adds a year for tractors and unlimited other catagory adds or four free adds a year for total. i realize that a lot of people were abusing the system terribly by running their add every day until they sold it or got tired of trying to sell it. i thought that kim had a rule of three adds in fourteen days time, but a lot of people sure didn't read that rule.

Randy, there is no charge for people selling tractors on this site. There never has been.

There are a few dealers though who have been causing some problems on the site and flooding the ad pages. Some of you requested that dealers not even be allowed to post (as it is in the regular classifieds). But there are some good honest dealers out there and we don't want to shut them out. So we've created a category where they can post tractors and implements for sale, and ask for a small fee to run it for 30 days. People only interested in the bottom dollar will run the other way most likely.

We've changed the description of what constitutes a business to more than eight tractors a year. There is some flexibility here and I welcome people to work with me on this.

Anyway, back to what I think you are asking - there are no free ads for dealers. They need to place their ads in the Dealer category and pay a small fee. For the rest of the community, the ads are free.

Because of this new organization, we have removed the limit on the number of ads a person can have, and there is no limit to the number of dealer ads (they just have to be in the right category). The reason the limit was imposed to begin with was because there were several dealers who had between 50 and 100 ads in there! It bogs down the server to the point where $1000.00 a month for a Dedicated T1 network line isn't even enough.

Along with no more ad limits, we are running ads for 30 days instead of 14. You should see the photo ads double shortly and we'll be putting some better searching mechanisms in place so that people can browse through them without taking hours.

I know this addresses much more than your original question. But this is partly addressing some of the other comments that are now further down the page.

Feel free to start a round table discussion in the Site Comments forum. I'm open to suggestions! Meanwhile we'll stick with what we've come up with and see how it works for the community.

Thanks,
Kim
