Any suggestions on make or what type of hand pump to get for moving hydraulic fluid from buckets to tractor or pumping fluid out of tractor into buckets?

Had my fill of getting fluid all over the place and lifting heavy buckets.

Thanks.

Emptying one of those five gallon containers into a tractor couldn't be much simpler. I discovered that a piece of sump pump hose twists right on to the pouring spout. All I did was set the container on the hood or tractor seat, direct the hose down into the tranny through the hole, and let'er rip. Gravity sure works with this stuff.

T-Bone has the best advice with the electric pump with Filter. New hydraulic oil is not clean.
Running it through a 10 micron filter will help your hydraulic systems live longer. In fact I know of one system where the only way you can add hydraulic fluid is to attach the supply to a port that has a 3 micron filter with it so it has to be a pressure pump.

Get a transfer pump , it looks like a grease gun with 2 hoses on one end. Pull plunger and it fills up and push plunger to empty. From tractor to drum or from drum to tractor ,easy and not very expensive. In canada can be purchased at Princess Auto

I don't know the brand but I picked one up at an Orielly's auto parts house a few years ago for around $50-60 and have loved it.

Was it a rotary pump or lever pump?

Lever pump, you pull the lid from the bucket and the metal top screws on the bucket with 3 wing nut bolts.

Hi BB,

Or you can look at the 12v SurFlo Vitone(seal type) pumps as they will pump diesel/oils. Rated at 2.8gpm@35psi and comes with a pressure switch for about $80. The 1.5gpm pump, about $60.

There a diaphram pump so there good for flamable liquids.

The Surflo pumps are the same pumps you buy for RV's water pumps so all RV supply co's carry them.

I have one on my diesel transfer tank that I use with a 12v lawn & garden battery. With two fuel filters, one 10micron, one 2micron in series, I get about 1.2gpm flow.
