ferguson 40 hydraulic problem

I am working on a ferguson 40 in which the 3 pt. does not stay up and it has little lifting power. I have put in a new lift piston and rings and had the cylinder honed to remove scratches (.003-.004). I had the cylinder honed because a new was not available. I can see oil leaking past the cylinder and it gets worse with the more weight that is added to the 3pt. I am wondering if the cylinder to piston clearance is too much now or if there is a problem with the rings. The face of the ring that touches the cylinder is beveled and I am wondering if the pressure as it is increasing forces the rings to collapse. The rings and piston are aftermarket. Does anyone have any experience with this situation. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
