Sorry to say this but you guy do help me a lot. Uncle Sam likes to keep me broke. I can but a WD that hasn't run in 2 years for $250 and an 8N for $800 which would you buy both have sat for at least 2 years. After I get one or both I will get them running and then sell to help make ends meet which will be better? Sorry to use you guy to make a buck but its hard to live on only $825 a month

Just restored one of each, and I found the Ford easier to work on, parts more readily available, and the tractor is much more "user friendly". True the WD is a bigger tractor and has more power, but has so much "stuff" hung on it, that repairing or restoring was a pain. Also, getting on and off is like trying to mount a tall horse. If $ a concern-- go with the "N"

If you can get both! IMHO the 8n is more usful, easier to get parts for, and easier to sell. Bought my 8n on a whim, but found out that it is very useful around here. Looks like a lawnmower next to the Farmalls, but does most of the work (except for heavey stuff). Never had luck with Allis (had a 14), more HP than the 8n, but seemed to be "fragile" - - had trouble with the rear-end also. Check around your area, but I bet the *n will sell faster (and for more).

Old, there is nothing wrong with either tractor, both of them are good. If I wanted one to use, I would go for the Allis. If I wanted one to sell, I would buy the Ford. I never could understand what people saw in those little gray Fords, but you can sell one in a heartbeat.

Paul's take is close to mine. What would sell in your area? Doesn't matter what YOU think of either model, it is what a buyer would think. Around here, it would easily be the 'N'. I was working on a Farmall Cub one day when our travelling wholesale jockey arrived and asked if the Cub was for sale. His comment was "they were junk when they were brand new, but I can sell them all day long."

Here in SW MO. I think a guy would do allright with either or both as there is a market for them. A lot of people who are familar with tractors want the WD if they have work to do. It seems that some people new to tractors want the 8n as they feel more secure not sitting up high in the air.

About halfway between Springfield and Joplin , north of Mt Vernon. Town called Miller. I think I remembered you telling about being from Mo at one time.

Buy the WD. It is a better tractor after it is worn out than the 8N was new.IMO It would be easier to find parts for the 8N but I think the WD is a lot more tractor, especially for the money you are talking about. If you were anywhere near me I give you a handsome profit on the Allis without ever turning a wrench on it.

What sells where you live? Some places like here it is hard to give an 8N away; other places you can get $3000 in a short time for one.

Same with the orange stuff.

I would go with the one that is easier to sell, has more fans, where you live.

All things being equal, there are more aftermarket parts & interest in N Fords.....
