Thanks for everyones comments. I had a few more questions to ask. The problem started a couple of years ago. The motor started running rough. I put the 1937 Model A John Deere away for a couple of years. Stored inside always. Took it out and started it. Runs rough. Installed 2 new rebuilt carburators, new rebuilt magneto, new plugs and wires, still no change. Pulled head and piston. Lapped valves and checked for stuck rings on piston thinking low compression. Reassembled. Gapped valve tappets and set magneto timing to mark on fly wheel-still same problem. When running and opening cylinder pet cocks, the right side exhausts hot. The left side is warm to cool. This is at any RPM. Once in a while both cylinders will fire as they should but doesn"t last long and back to same. Put a spark tester on left cylinder and it fires as it should. Stumped as to what else to do.
Rockin farmer gave some good info, maybe you"ve got some more.
Thanks, Roy

I had the same problem on a 1936 B that was restored the mag was rebuilt and the wires were fine too. But if it is miss fireing nothing wromg in the head. But on mine on the right side cylinder it was missing so check your plugs. I took the new pair i had out and gapped and old pair and turned it over to top dead center gave it a crank and fired right up. And it has started on one turn everytime.

because of the 2 cylinder 1 carb setup, one cylinder gets more fuel/air than the other. which would be the right. if you wanted to make sure both are firing hook it up to a plow and go plow at 2/3-full throttle and it should sound like it is running on both cylinders. or just hook it up to somthing that will make it work.
