There is a tractor I saw on RFDTV about 1 month ago. The tractor is for horse-drawn equipment, and it is reign-steered. Does anyone know what it is called and does anyone have a picture? Maybe there is another site I can go to? I would appreciate if someone can help me out. I told someone about it and they raised an eyebrow!!!
Need proof to show them I was right.

There was a Sampson tractor like that, too. Sold by General Motors about 1920.

The tractor is the EIMCO Power Horse. It was made in Utah , and most were powered by a 4 cyl. Allis - Chalmers engine . They came in several colors , but black seems most common.

Look up the LaCrosse Happy Farmer in the vintage tractors. This one has a steering wheel, but I'm thinking I saw one like it with reigns on them 2 horns out in front. Think it was made for either way. One of the old Case steam engines had a seat up front so it could be pulled by horses, but also could be driven. Old habits didn't die easy. lol

Joe - Might it have been the Advance Rumley "Line Drive"? The operator walked (or rode) behind the tractor and steered it with reins.

I have a photo of a Line Drive from a show here a couple years ago. Post back your email and I can send it along...

Joe,

The January/February 2005 issue of Antique Power Magazine has an article about the "Rein-Drive Tractors". The were built in 1917 in Canada by Rein-Drive Tractors, Limited. I don't have a scanner or I would post a pick for you.
