This product is used in some Case skid steers in the hydraulic system. I have 5 gals of 15-40 motor oil and this product pre mixed that I would like to use as engine oil. Is there anything in this product that would would be bad for the engine ? In the bottle, the HTO smells somewhat like Marvel mystery oil, if that means anything.

I don't think I would use it in an engine. It's an extreme pressure anti-wear additive: ie a Zinc-Phos compound in SAE 30 or 20W base oil. You all ready have a good amount of this additive if you are using a diesel oil which I assume if it is a 15W40. It does great things for hydrostatic pumps/motors and hydraulic systems. HyTran (sp?) does not contain any because it causes more clutch/brake slip. I always add it to HyTran if it is not in a brake or powershift compartment which has clutches. They removed much of the Zinc-Phos in gasoline engine oil because it plugs the Cat converter. I have considered putting some into gas oil, because it has good anti-wear properties, but have decided not to screw with the OEM's formulation.

Sounds like you have 5 gallons of chainsaw blade oil.
