1950 8N. Ran fine until I shut it off. Can't get it to re-fire. Good spark, full of gas. Carb has been gone thru, cleaned and rebuilt. Filters changed. Spark plugs are dry. I can't figure out why? The venturi in the carb is a little bent on the suction side. Is it loosing suction and not pulling gas?

Make sure that you have fuel at the carb. The N has 3 filters and they do their job and catch gunk and clog at times. I agree with the trouble shoot approach using ether to nail down whether it"s a fuel issue or not. May be water/ice in the fuel too which can come at any time. Heet is suggested to help out if this is the culprit.

Can"t speak for the venturi being deformed but my guess is that it can"t be a significant factor if it ran before.

Post the question on the 9n,2n,8n board and those guys will be eager to help out. Lots of good guys over there.

I got it going!!!!! But where is the elusive 3rd filter? I have an inline, and the screen in the carb elbow. Is the 3rd one the sediment bowl? I want this thing CLEAN! I did notice some floaters in the sediment bowl when I turned the gas back on. Thanks for all your help guys! This site is great.

Due to the fact that either is dry, with no lubrication, do not use it to start an aluminum engine, use a good carb cleaner, a lot easier on cylinder and head bolts.

Try a little shot of starting ether -- if it then tries to fire, your problem is fuel related.
