Say Guys,

Wife was kinda wanting to know all about this third tractor that is coming to live with us.

Now all of a sudden, she is shopping online for a Honaverian Stud? Hmmmmm mmm.

Am I in deep, deep trouble here?

Allan

Here are my views on horses compared to tractors in general. My wife has 4 (yes, I said my wife....no we involved there). I don't dislike the horses and more or less enjoy making hay, etc for their consumption, but from a practical standpoint..... ....well you will get my drift...

When a horse misbehaves, you could be in real trouble, when the tractor misbehaves, you can always turn it off.

When you can't afford to feed your tractor, no problem...with horses however.....

Tractor exhaust generally floats away on the breeze, horse exhaust however requires the use of a shovel....

When you put the tractor away for the day, you don't need to brush it down and pat it and tell it that it was a "good tractor" (although maybe some of us do)

When the tractor dies, it at least has scrap value and doesn't require the digging of a large hole....if it dies in the winter, it doesn't matter that there is frost in the ground....(and don't even bring up the rendering facility....my wife might be reading this....)

I could go on for a while longer, but I will probably get enough guff from the horse lovers out there..... .remember, I said I don't particularily mind the horses (like I said, my wife might be reading this..... )

As long as he aint got a first name like Hans, or Maurice, probably ok. And as long as your name don't get changed from Allan to Honey or Dear during those heat of passion moments, you're probably ok too. LOL.

Mark.

Allen; Allen; Allen
You should have went out and bought this lady a good cutting quarter horse while you still had the chance.
Now she wants a Hanoverian. You do know that is a jumper/walker horse.
Now you are going to need that English saddle; jumping poles; proper attire; ect..... ....

So guys here is a picture of Allen next year exercising the wife’s horse.

Hi Case,

She's been talkin' "horse" for six weeks now. Heck, I thought it would go away, die down and she'd forget it.

Hmmmm, not now after the latest tractor disclosure session. :>)

Yes, my friend, you are in deep trouble. The operative word here is "stud". Doesn't matter much which breed, stud horses are a royal pain in the far east. I don't recall the Hanoverian breed to be especially gentle. To save yourself a lifetime of exasperation, build him a very stout paddock, after talking to some horse people about what materials to use. If anyone tells you the cute white plastic electric fence tape will work for a stud, make a mental note to talk to somebody smarter. At minimum, get "no climb" fencing (kind of a very intense hog wire), with electric wires on top and about butt high, to keep him from destroying it. Somebody put a joke on here about a cowboy and a [offensive word deleted] the other day- the stud horse is like that cowboy/ [offensive word deleted], but with super strength and no brain to slow things up.

Back in the 60's, my Uncle Andy used to give us boys some good advice. He said to never get hooked up with a woman who loves horses. You'll always be compared to the horse (if you know what he meant) and will pretty much ALWAYS come in second. Obviously it is too late for you so just sit back and let it happen.

Sounds to me that you could have a lot of studs coming your way to balance out the cost of the 966.

Dang! Ain't it a bugger bein replaced? 'Specially by a young stud...boy that's enough to really burn a guy's britches.

Well...don't know much about that particular breed, but I think you know enough about equines to know that yes, my friend, you are in a bit of a fix.

Tim, he don't know the half of it yet does he? New dually pickup and new show-camper horse trailer, at least another tractor to groom the arena. The arena, the pipe fences so they don't cut themselves, vet on standby, drag to pull behind the grooming tractor. Hahahahaand the best part after yesterday's posts, a square baler to put up them itty bitty square bales so he can bust em in half to feed ole Silver so he don't get too much, and a rake to rake the hay with. Then a mower to mow it with. Then a couple of hay racks to haul it in with, then a quanset shed to put the alfalufy hay in to keep it dry so ole Silver don't get sick and he has to call his on-call vet. Then a new pitch fork, new wheel barrow, manure spreader, nuther tractor to pull that with, then a hired man to do all the chores while he is in watching RFD-TV catching up on all the horsey shows so he knows how to train ole Silver. I just can't see an easy end to all this. Hope he recovers, Later, Harley

Hey Harley- You forgot that dually has got to be a quad cab diesel with horse mudflaps and chrome grill guard. I'd say the most expensive you can buy, heated leather seats included.
You still coming up? Been REALLY slick around here, and doesn't look to get better. (Highways are fine, it's the gravel that's pure ice)
