How many of you collect toys? In my mined the 1/16 or 1/8 scale tractors are easier to collect than the full size ones. Dont need a huge barn or a huge trailer to tow them around either. Well, ok i still do collect full size tractors too, i have a 1950 farmall H and a 1951 MH 44gs.

Now for the toys, I have a brand new Farmall H wich has amazing detail on in. I also has a really old John Deere pull behing combine and a brand new john deere 2440. I have been looking at expanding my toy collection and need you opinions. I found a dec. 2000 collector edition farmall M demonstrator. I am confused if i should go with the 1/8 scale precision model or a pedal tractor.
Ill post pictures of them with the demensions and let me know what you think will look better at toy shows and gain more value.

I'd like to see a 1/8 scale precision tractor- haven't seen any yet. This discussion makes me think of another question- what one tractor in your collection is your favorite? Last year I got a Oliver Super 99, 1/12 scale (half way between a 1/16 and 1/8) by the Franklin Mint and I think it's a super model. Can you narrow it down to one favorite model?

I have quite a collection of precision scale models of tractors and farm equipment, and I have that Oliver 99 which you mention and between it a Precision Ih 706 model and the recent precision Deere 5010, these are my favorites. I also have to give honorable mention to Franklin Mint's precision Allis WC and pull-behind combine. The Allis and combine are probably the best crafted of the models, altho the Ollie is next best.

My dad and I collect toys and have been since the mid 80's. There was a time in there when we concentrated more on farming than on toys. We also have been expanding our real tractor collection a little heavily recently so toys are starting to go on the back burner again a little. My dad has around a hundred or so tractors. Some of them are older and some are newer. He collects mainly special edition models of whatever brand. I personally have a collection of 230 or so pieces strong. Just got done cataloging them the other week cause I couldn't remember what I had anymore. It's tough to go purchase toys when you don't even know what you have. I know there are people out there with much bigger collections than me. I dont specialize in one particular brand or the other. I am an IH guy above all else but I would bet there are probably more John Deere pieces in my collection than anything else. Mainly because most retail stores that sell farm toys usually have the green and not much of anything else. When I go for toys I look for ones that I like the styling and detail of. I have seen tractors of a particular make and model in one brand and bought it because it struck me as an interesting toy and other brands of the same make and model I have passed up because it wasn't as appealing. It don't matter if it would be a JD, Case, IH, Allis or whatever. If I dont like the way a toy looks or it's quality I simply don't buy it. As far as what you should purchase, which one is more convenient for you to store or transport? Do you want to take it to a show or put it in a display case? I think that a pedal tractor may hold it's value better than a 1/8 scale would but I could be wrong, I do not collect either of these sizes. I stick mainly to 1/64 and 1/16 scale. Also I tend to stay away from special edition toys for the most part with some exceptions. I look for shelf model toys first because the way I see it most of them are going to be played with and destroyed and there will be fewer of them in NIB condition in the years to come. Just the way that it is with the older toys now. Just my .02 cents. Have a good one.

Dad, Grandpa, and I all collect 1/16 scale toys. I mainly have red, Dad and Grandpa are split with red and green.
I like to detail and make tractors not made. I"ve done a 756 Wheatland, and an 806 with fourwheel drive. Next, I think I"ll build a Farmall B with a cultivator and maybe exhaust lift.
Most of my tractors I have done nothing to, and it"ll stay that way.

Hi David, I'm coming up the 19th of this month to get those two tractors out of the shed. Good to see you on here again. Talked to your grandpa the other day. I've got something over 50 of the 1/16 IH models down here along with some wagons, rear mount cultivators, rotary hoes, elevators, grinder-mixers, manure spreaders, plows and discs. A lot of fun to mess with. Hope to see you in a week or so, Harley

Hey Harley,
Heard you were coming, hope the weather improves for you. I'll probably have school, so I'll more than likely miss you, but I can try.
Later,
David

Here's some 6030's I just bought. IDF now owns the cab off the one on the end. That one's getting a Roll Guard / canopy / fenders.

They're a lot of fun!

Mitch

Several years ago, on one of my collecting runs, i found a late model cast John deere pedal tractor setting out at the curb, with a bag of garbage on it, and other bags and refuse stacked all around it! Well, i figured they were throwing it out, so into my truck it went, and it got a new home at my place! the reason it got thrown out was: The bolts that hold the pedal assy in, had broken off, so, the "moderns" who can't repair anything, set it out with the garbage!! but: I can't let the Grandson play with it, because, if you have kids, you know they can't put anything away, they just let it set out front, or in the driveway, and go off to play with something else! I have a friend, who owns a farm, and he's bought 3 of the JD toy pedal tractors, and they have all been stolen! So, mine is in the garage out back, waiting for the big auction, when i'll sell it all off, and go live in my tent or motor home, which ever one is left, after the County takes the rest! by: Rustyj

Anyone have any opinions? There is only 1 of the pedal tractors left but i like both the pedal tractor and the 1/8 scale tractor. I would like to make my decision soon but i dont know what brings peoples attention more a highly detailed 1/8 scale or a not so detailed pedal tractor, and at about $200 a piece i sure cant afford both.
So wich one would you like to see at a show more or wich one would you buy to add to your collection?

Is it the normal red M or the white demonstrator?
I think i am going to go with the 1/8 scale white demonstrator M becuase it is fairly large, and has alot of detail and i think it will atract more atention at all the shows.
