This site is a tractor site not a car site. Let us not start to corrupt it with car questions. Next will be motorcycle and God forbid maybe even boat questions. Tractor folks are generally helpfull folks but we need to keep this site on track(tor). Sorry if I offend anyone But I am a 40 year veteran profesional car mechanic and if I want car stuff I go to a CAR SITE..

Well ,,it's not a Buick, but Caddy . when my great uncle first moved from Chicago to near Boone Iowa and decided he wanted to try farming . He was retired engineer from Swift packing . we went to visit the "farm " one weekend . There out in field was my uncle , pulling old manure spreader with a big old 59 caddy . wished I'd got a picture of that , but is forever burned into my mind ,,lol quite a site .

Ever buy gum at a hardware store? Toilet paper at a grocery store. Talk about something besides grain at the elevator?

I think most of us here are pretty forgiving for OT posts dealing with mechanical things and topics around the home/farm, etc. As long as it's not politics or religion then we all seem to get along fine. By the way, anyone know anything about a carburetor on a Hodaka 100cc Road Toad?

Car question does not bother me. I come here to read posts by people that I consider to be good down to earth folks that have a lot of common sense. Sure beats watching TV... Sometimes a guy needs some help or advice, if it is something I can help him with, I am glad to offer my assistance. Even if things are off the topic,I always learn something. I can understand why politics & religion are not good topics here, but an occasional car question does not cause any harm... Regards, Davis

Hey, I've got a BOAT with an outboard motor that was made with the same engine used in cars and tractors. It's a little Crosley, put into outboard motors by Bearcat, Fisher-Pierce and Homelite. So, now I've got boats, cars, and tractors covered. Can anyone figure how I can fit a motorcylce into this post without breaking the rules? Crosley produced the Farm-O-Road combo vehicle in 1951. It was advertised as a tractor, truck, mobile power plant, road vehicle, and farm vehicle - all in one. Hope this keeps me out of Off-Topic prison.

Jdemaris I have got the best news for you. In one of the Farm Show news magazines of last year, a feller put a cummins (Ithink) diesel in a homemade trike. Big long thing but said it ran like a dream. So there you go. Being an old Harley man (2002 FLHTCI) myself, and the ongoing builder of a three wheel trike with a Chebby 350 in it, I thought you would like to hear about that. Keep yer stick on the ice, Harley

I've got my '69 XLCH sitting in the barn among the tractors, along side my 72 650 Triumph Tiger and a '59 Royal Enfield. I had the Triumph and Enfield first, and got the Sportster a few years later - around 1976 as I recall. That TV show "Then Came Bronson" made it look pretty good. Seemed like a big bike then, especially compared to the Triumph. I see now a lot of women are buying Sportsters and they are considered small, or "starter bikes." Oh well, I still like it.

Hey, my buddy's 883 Piglette will eat my 97"er alive on the take off. Had it up to 104", but that Shovel just kept coming unglued. I put the drags on and re-jetted that Piglette for my buddy, and now I get to watch his license plate and get my ears rung when he scoots out.

XLCH? Then came Bronson? Now, this kind of OT could get me suspended for sure. LOL.

Ever hear of "Road Dog"? Visit Walnecks sometime at www.walnecks.com. I usually pickup his monthly trader. Enough parts of every type to piece meal together JD's, UL's, WL's, Knucks, Pans, Shovels, and of course, them new fangled Evo's.

That Road Dog thing is just about the biggest, longest, and ugliest contraption, and Buzz owns it, and a few other home made uglies, included a corvair powered trike a friend's rebuilding for him.

Me? My '79 FL share the same barn with my tractors. If I don't leave a few drops of oil in my friends drives when they aren't home, how are they supposed to know that I thought enough of them to stop by? Whether on a tractor or scooter, keep your face in the wind. LOL.

No pictures of mine here in IL. Scooter is setting back home in the barn in IN. From what I can see of yours, nice rigid aternator case Shovel with a Kuriakin, and that kick on a 4 speed ratchet top. Anyone who knows anything about an old big twin knows that a Prestelite just don't get the job done, especially on a stroker. My knee aint what it used to be, but can still do it. Will try to get some pictures of it this weekend. Did something different on mine, blocked the oil tube between the heads, and ported the oil out the left side of the jugs down into the case - Shovels always had an top end oil problem on the left side - not mine anymore, I force the oil over and down from there.

Nice scooter there Butcher. You know, if I post the scooter with the tractors, won't really be so OT? Huh? Good luck with the pooch Brother.

You can say it don't matter as long as we understand the question but, your wrong and it just demonstrates why companies continue to out source. My (2) cents.

this aint no bull and no joking i have have seen dave fidder pull 3/4 of a load of hay pry oh 100 bales or so w/a buick honest. it was a buick lesabre. honest. buick has alot nicer ride. you know my take on it just keep up wahtever topic you want and post it as ot and if you dont like it skip over it no big deal you dont want to read it why do you click on it. you dont like the subjects that come up on this website leave it go somehwere else. this is a great site and when talking about buicks somone may mention a tip on how to do something that can be applied to tractors. all motors pretty well are the same starter battery piston valves pretty much the same when talking about buicks some tip may come up about something that will help somone help out on tractors. who knows maybe the guy was trying to fix the buick himself so he could spend the money on his tractor rather then the car. the reason this is such a great site is the vast knowledge of everyone and the imput of everyone if you are so against helping somone out then dont post any ?'s either cause if you dont want to help why should you ask help.

Hey showcrop, while the 5/16 studs will probably increase stability and traction, the 1/4 studs were used a lot in racing so when you went around the corners they would break off and fly up in your opponents face and eliminate him from the rest of the race. Keep yer stick on the ice, Harley

Buick..?? In a barn beside my Brother's, there is an old 1923 Buick that was cut down from the windshield--on back..that farmer had a sawmill, and used it as a tractor, and had a matching trailer for it to haul heavy logs...!!! The Model "T" conversion with the circular saw is still in the barn, and the motor is loose..!!! Sure a Buick can be a tractor..if it was used for one...!!!

When I was young , our neighbor had a Buick Roadmaster, the kind with 4 ports in the fender, and him and his wife were both drunks. But he wouldn't have known a stripper hill even if he drove off the edge of one. I think he was a insurance salesman, thats how he could afford such an expensive Buick.
