The pin sizes & the width is correct for cat 1.

However, the lower arms are usually bent in around the tires so some equipment will not work properly that normally clamp on to the arms - some cement mixers, sickle mowers, etc.

More importantly, the arms are shorter than on a 'real' tractor, so the arc of movement is shorter to really foul up implements like a post hole digger, and anything with a pto will have shaft length issues.

I won't guess on what they mean by limited, but there wass also a Category O- developed after the first 4 categories, to allow for the mini ones. All 3ph specs are at www.asae.org. American Society of Agricultural Engineers.

Yesterday I tried to hook up a rototiller and fount that the PTO drive shaft was too long. It will pick up the rototiller but cant connect the driveshaft. Also I hooked up a box scraper and lifted it 3/4 of the way up and was fine but in the last 1/4 ot the way up the back actually went down and the front went up. Go Figure

I'm going to take a guess as well. I have used some of these tractors and there seems to be a very wide range of what people makeing implements determine is cat.# 1. Thus I have been LIMITED by what will actually fit and work right. I have had trouble with some stuff not being able to get the arms out far enough to hook up or when they hook up they rub the tires.

When the implement hook up pins are set too wide for my 650 JD compact diesel, I simply remove the pins and then turn them to the inside of the frame. Works good for me.

Yes that is a remedy that I had forgot about. I have done this some but is a real PIA when you are shareing implements.

This is only a guess as I couldn't find the SAE specs for category I 3 pt. hitch.

I'm guessing that the hitch matches width, pin diameter, etc., but just does not have the lifting capacity that SAE specs call for. In other words, weak in the knees, but for convenience sake will still allow most implements fitted with Cat. I to be used.
