Well, thank the lord I took time out 2 months ago and put chains on my ford 1710. Even with 4x4, I wouldn't have done much after 2 ice storms over the new years weekend. And now with snow moving in tonight in Wis, moving snow with ice below it just wouldn't happen without chains. Slow down and stay safe tonight and tomorrow for all of you out there in the midwest. Craig

Hey ya Craig, I've been listening to icy pebbles hittin' the windows in Joliet for the last hour. Figure I'll be takin' gravel roads where ever I can tomorrow. They say 8-12" of snow when the ice stops, but the ground needs the moisture though. Well, my truck's gonna be movin' like one big heavy turtle tomorrow.

Amen. I was at a tractor dealership 2 years ago and the owner had just sold a 4X4 massey ferg. tractor. And the guy that bought it said he wanted tire chains on it. The dealer owner said "you dont need chains if you have 4 wheel drive" I thought about that for a minute and I kept my trap shut while thinking to myself Hmmm...maybe this guy has never been on solid ice before. It is too bad that tire chains arent legal on cars and trucks.

We have conditions when it is illegal to NOT have tire chains on. Usually mountain passes, usually only on towing vehicles, which is anything with any kind of trailer. Trucks are required to carry chains always in the winter.

Only a couple inches of white stuff here but the traffic is going slow on the highway all day. It's a little slick out there.
